Submit Public Comments to WA Redistricting Commission!

Time is running out, but here is still time to submit your public comments to the WA Redistricting Commission! As part of our Redistricting Justice for Washington mission, we support maps that offer fair representation to communities of color across Washington state.

Submit public comments HERE.

Here are a few keys points we are asking people to comment on. Please prioritize points ONE & TWO:

1. Comply with the Voting Rights Act and draw a majority-minority CVAP state legislative district in Yakima that also includes the Yakama Nation.

2. Draw a majority-minority 9th congressional district that includes South Seattle and Chinatown-International District.

3. Draw a majority-minority 21st LD in Snohomish County

4. Draw a majority-minority 28th and 29th LD in Pierce County

5. Draw majority-minority CVAP districts in the 37th, 11th, and 33rd LDs. Do not split Chinatown-International District from the 37th district.

6. Draw a majority-minority 47th LD.

7. Draw a majority-minority 16th LD in Pasco and Kennewick

Call on the Senate and President Biden to pass the Freedom to Vote Act & the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act!

We are focusing our efforts on calling on President Biden and the Senate to lay out their plans to pass the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (which may come up for a cloture vote TODAY), with or without the filibuster. Recently, President Biden expressed a new openness to making an exception to the filibuster to pass voting rights legislation, we need to hold him and the Senate to make it happen!

Actions you can take:

  • FREEDOM TO VOTE - TIME TO ACT Events
  • Call the U.S. Senate @ 1.888.453.3211 - Tell them to pass the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, as well as address the filibuster so these bills can pass.
  • Call the White House @ 1.888.724.8746 - Tell the President to use his power to push the Senate to pass these bills and support reforming the filibuster. (The comment line is open Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, 8am-noon PT.)
  • Volunteer Phonebanks: Common Cause & RepresentUs
  • Write a Letter to the Editor: Use the Letter To the Editor Tool to submit a letter to your local newspaper

Time is running out...Please TAKE ACTION today!
