Rural Reconnect: Healing America by Rebuilding Rural Local News
with Miles Sisk

In an era of declining local news outlets and rising misinformation, rural communities are facing a growing information gap. Rural Reconnect was founded to address this challenge by building a nonprofit news organization dedicated to delivering regionalized, fact-based journalism that empowers communities and fosters civic engagement.

This session will explore our mission to provide accurate, local reporting on issues that matter most to rural Americans—from agriculture and healthcare to economic development and infrastructure. By creating a trusted, multimedia news network, they aim to ensure that rural voices are heard, misinformation is challenged, and communities stay connected through meaningful storytelling.

Miles Sisk is a campaign manager and consultant from rural Oregon with a deep commitment to strengthening local communities through trusted journalism and civic engagement. As an advocate for rural voices, Miles works to combat misinformation and bridge the growing information gap by supporting initiatives that deliver fact-based, regional news to underserved areas. Through his work with Rural Reconnect, he is dedicated to building a nonprofit news network that empowers rural communities, fosters meaningful dialogue, and ensures that local stories are heard and valued.

A National Day of Mass Mobilization
Saturday, April 5th!

On April 5th, national and local organizations are coming together across the country to organize for Hands Off! in defiance of the billionaire takeover and the federal assault on our freedoms and our communities.

Hands Off! is an all-in moment for the pro-democracy, pro-worker movement—a demand, a warning, and a rallying cry that responds to the primary reasons for our mobilization: Stopping the illegal power grab. Stopping the gutting of services, the raising of prices, and the racing towards slashing Medicaid, Social Security, and more.
