Grab a drink and come hear about the latest democracy news, ongoing efforts to fix democracy, and actions you can take at our weekly Democracy Happy Hour, Wednesdays @ 5 pm PT/8 pm ET. This is an online virtual event via Zoom.

Today's topic for January 21, 2026:
SPECIAL Citizens United Anniversary Program:
We CAN Undo Citizens United

What is Citizens United and how did it unleash unlimited amounts of money in our elections? How do we undo Citizens United? Come learn about the Corporate Power Reset that would make Citizens United irrelevant. By using their authority to define what corporations are—and what powers they hold—states can end the era of corporate and dark money in U.S. politics. Many states are now looking at this option, including Montana, Colorado, New York, and now Washington State.

Tom Moore is a senior fellow for Democracy Policy at the Center for American Progress. In previous lives, he served as senior counsel and chief of staff to Commissioner Ellen L. Weintraub of the Federal Election Commission; was elected to two terms on the Rockville, Md., City Council; served as president of the board of Common Cause Maryland; went to Georgetown Law at night while he was an at-home dad; clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit in Fargo, ND; wrote and edited for Congressional Quarterly and CNN; and graduated from Davidson College.
