Today's topic for June 12, 2024: Citizens United Overreach: Corporate Boards’ Political Spending The Supreme Court ruling in Citizens United gave corporations—but not for-profit corporate boards—the authority to spend in candidate elections. But those boards immediately started spending anyway, improperly handing U.S. citizens’ constitutional rights over to large shareholders and foreign nationals. A new Center for American Progress report shows how it could cost them. Tom Moore is a senior fellow at Center for American Progress, where he focuses on democracy and government reform.
