OPEN TO ALL!
This event is open to anyone interested in learning more about advocating
for c ivic education on a local, state and/or national level.

Fix Democracy First is a proud partner of the CivXNow Teachers Advancing Civic Learning (TACL - pronounced “tackle”) project, an effort to build an ongoing movement and advance policy within their schools, their districts, their states, and nation. We encourage educators interested in being part of this peer community to join the TACL effort

As part of this effort, we are joining our partners to implement a quarterly educator training/webinar. Join us on May 28 at 4 pm PT/7 pm ET as we hear from Lindsay Sobel, Chief of Policy, Planning, and External Affairs at one of the nation’s leading organizations emphasizing teacher leadership, Teach Plus. Together with CivXNow partners collaborating on the TACL project, we’ll provide you with tools and strategies to make the case for stronger civic learning policies within your school and district, among parents, and with decision-makers at the local, state, and national levels.

This event is open to anyone interested in learning more about advocating for civic education on local, state and/or national level.

June 6th @ 4:30 pm PT

WA Community AllianceWA for Equitable Representation, FairVote WA, Fix Democracy First, Washington Bus, and Washington Conservation Action invite you to join us for an upcoming event, Electoral Justice in Pierce County.

When: Thursday, June 6th, 4:30-6:30 pm PT
Where: Edison Square, 5415 South Tacoma Way, Tacoma, WA 98409

Voter turnout in 2023 in WA was the lowest in state history, with Pierce County in the bottom 10 counties. Since the establishment of Pierce County, only three people of color have ever been elected to the county council. Something needs to be done.

Join elected leaders, activists, and policy makers from around Pierce County as we take an analytical deep dive into our antiquated electoral system. Does it serve the interests of a multi-racial democracy? How can we do better? There is too much at stake in 2024 to not boldly envision better and more equitable voting systems.

This event will include the release of a new video produced by WA for Equitable Representation, a review of the Electoral Justice Dashboard Pierce County, and a fun activity to learn more about electoral systems. Refreshments will be provided!

Please make a contribution to support our work to strengthen and defend  democracy.  We can't do it without you.
