We encourage educators interested in being part of this peer community to join the TACL effort. As part of this effort, we are joining our partners to implement a quarterly educator training/webinar. Join us on May 28 at 4 pm PT/7 pm ET as we hear from Lindsay Sobel, Chief of Policy, Planning, and External Affairs at one of the nation’s leading organizations emphasizing teacher leadership, Teach Plus. When: Thursday, June 6th, 4:30-6:30 pm PT Where: Edison Square, 5415 South Tacoma Way, Tacoma, WA 98409 Voter turnout in 2023 in WA was the lowest in state history, with Pierce County in the bottom 10 counties. Since the establishment of Pierce County, only three people of color have ever been elected to the county council. Something needs to be done. Join elected leaders, activists, and policy makers from around Pierce County as we take an analytical deep dive into our antiquated electoral system. Does it serve the interests of a multi-racial democracy? How can we do better? There is too much at stake in 2024 to not boldly envision better and more equitable voting systems. This event will include the release of a new video produced by WA for Equitable Representation, a review of the Electoral Justice Dashboard Pierce County, and a fun activity to learn more about electoral systems. Refreshments will be provided! |
