No Kings 2.0 National Day of Action on Saturday, Oct 18th! President Donald Trump is trying to rule like a king. Sending masked agents into our cities. Targeting immigrant families. Terrorizing our communities. But this country does not belong to kings or dictators. It belongs to us. The October 18 No Kings Day of Action is a coordinated effort across the country, building on the coalition’s previous day of action on June 14 that brought together more than five million people across 50 states in the largest single-day protest yet against President Trump’s authoritarian attacks. Fix Democracy First is excited to join with other groups organizing the No Kings peaceful protests across the country including ACLU, American Federation of Teachers, Common Defense, 50501, Human Rights Campaign, Indivisible, League of Conservation Voters, MoveOn, National Nurses United, Public Citizen, SEIU, among others. Fix Democracy First is a non-partisan organization, but due to the unrelenting attack on democracy by Donald Trump and the current administration, we must stand up to defend democracy, the rule of law, and the U.S. Constitution. We support our friends at Free Speech for People and other organizations that are calling for the impeachment of Trump. In the time since his second inauguration, Trump has carried out an assault on the rule of law, on the checks and balances of power between our co-equal branches of government, and on the United States Constitution. Donald Trump is disqualified from the presidency. And now he is committing multiple abuses of power in violation of clear constitutional commands and at the expense of our democratic institutions, constitutional precedent, and the health and safety of all of our people, especially the most vulnerable. Congress must take action. We must demand accountability. Trump is not a monarch. He is beholden to the Constitution, as is Congress. And as the Founders understood, if we are to preserve our democracy for the people, then Congress has a duty to investigate, impeach and remove a corrupt executive. Congress must fulfill its duty now! Congress must immediately impeach and remove Donald Trump for offenses that he has carried out against the people, institutions, and branches of our government.
