We have found a solid legal path to get big money out of our elections here in Washington. We're pretty sure you agree that big money in our elections has hijacked our democracy. Since Citizens United, people can no longer be confident that their elected officials are listening to them rather than to corporate and special interests. Fix Democracy First has just launched a Citizen Resolution that will get corporate and dark money out of our elections and essentially make Citizens United irrelevant in Washington State. How? Well, for over 200 years the Supreme Court has consistently ruled that the States have the authority to grant corporations (and other artificial legal entities) their charter and to define their powers. Our strategy will simply take away one power from corporations in WA State - the power to spend money to influence our elections. It would also mean that out of state corporations could not spend money on our elections. This would apply to all local, state, and federal elections in Washington State, including ballot measures. We have the legislation drafted and ready to submit to the legislature. Perhaps surprisingly, we have found significant bipartisan support for the idea in the legislature. However, there will be opposition. But, if we show strong public support for this Act, it has an excellent chance of passage in the 2027 session. That's where you come in. We have a simple question for you. Would you support an ACT by the Washington Legislature that ELIMINATES the ability of corporations and dark money groups to spend money on our elections? help build public support for the Act HERE. Also, help us spread the word by sharing the Citizen Resolution with your friends and contacts. Feel free to copy or forward this message, and post it on social media.
